Social Responsibility and Environment
In the modern business world, corporate responsibility is no longer an option, it is a fundamental necessity. Companies that combine their activities with responsible practices not only make a positive contribution to the development of society and the environment, but they also strengthen the company's reputation. JSC "ENERGO-PRO Georgia" as one of the largest energy companies in Georgia, is aware of its social responsibility in promoting energy efficiency. One of the priorities of our company is its commitment to society and the environment.
Energy efficiency is one of the most important aspects of corporate social responsibility. Through optimization, energy consumption can be significantly reduced, which ultimately translates into environmental benefits such as reduced carbon dioxide emissions and pollution, which actually cause global climate change. One of the important benefits of energy efficiency, first of all, includes environmental benefits such as reducing polluting emissions and water losses. Promoting energy efficiency can reduce individual utility bills and create economic wealth.
JSC “Energo-Pro Georgia” is well aware of the company’s corporate social responsibility and its own role in environmental protection and promoting energy efficiency. The company launched the “Habit Saving” campaign in February 2025. This campaign is aimed at raising public awareness regarding the importance of energy efficiency. The goal of the campaign is to show the public that each person’s seemingly insignificant actions, habits can reduce harmful impacts on the environment, and by saving electricity consumption, expenses can be reduced and people’s personal budgets can be increased.
Recommendations for reducing electricity consumption and promoting energy efficiency activities
- Replace ordinary light bulbs with energy-efficient and LED bulbs. Their consumption is five times less than that of conventional bulbs. At first you may have to pay more for energy efficient bulbs then for conventional ones, but eventually energy-efficient bulbs will last longer and will save you more money over their shelf-life than the difference in initial cost;
- Use spot (LED) lighting, which provides better lighting effect along with energy saving;
- When leaving the room, turn off the lights, turn off the TV and other devices that you do not need to use at that moment;
- Try to use energy-efficient household appliances, as they consume much less energy. Energy efficiency is indicated by the inscription A on the passport data of the device. Try to buy AAA or A+++ energy-efficient appliances.
- When purchasing household appliances, pay attention to how smart they are. Most devices should automatically switch to standby mode when not in use. This will reduce both “unintentional” consumption and the risk of equipment damage and fire. However, remember that they do not eliminate the above risks when connected to the electrical network, and the best solution is to leave them disconnected from the network;
- Do not leave the refrigerator door open for a long time, this leads to a violation of temperature regimes, the restoration of which requires additional electricity consumption.
- Try to use any type of washing machine during off-peak hours (preferably after 10:30 PM or before 8:30 AM. If you cannot do this during these periods, a less effective, but still positive alternative is from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM). This reduces the demand for additional electricity, which in turn has a positive impact on the environment and consumer tariffs.
- Try to use daylight as much as possible when arranging both work and personal spaces;
- Use lighting sensors that automatically turn on in motion or day-night mode;
- When choosing a heating device, try to choose a heater with temperature control;
- Do not leave your mobile phone, laptop and other devices plugged in;
- Select automatic “sleep” mode on your computers and printers;
- Heat maintenance and loss in most homes occur due to windows and poor hermetization. The thermal insulation of building walls also has a significant impact. Therefore, it is advisable to install energy-efficient windows and insulate the house. As a result, you will protect yourself from excessive inflow and outflow of warm air in winter and cool air in the hot season. This will, in turn, reduce additional heating and cooling costs. It is advisable to consider thermal insulation of building walls during construction and renovation. As practice shows, in case of buildings wrapped with thermal insulation materials, heating and cooling costs are reduced by at least 20%;
- Change your daily behavior - energy can be saved with simple habits such as turning off lights or appliances when not in use for a long period of time; use natural light during the day; wash clothes in cold water in the washing machine whenever possible;
- Use kitchen appliances more wisely - many of us sometimes boil more water in a kettle or pot than we actually use. Avoid overfilling the kettle/pot; whenever possible, do not turn on the stove before use and save energy.
“Habit Saving” and take care of the environment!
